Floating Kabarette New Years Eve Party at Galapagos Art Space

Floating Kabarette at Galapagos Art Space

Floating Kabarette at Galapagos Art Space
Galapagos reclaims the circus with this weekly cabaret night: Enjoy performances by the venue's house dance company, Jenny Rocha and Her Painted Ladies, burlesque performance artist Cassandra Rosebeetle and male trapeze stud Jan Manke, alongside the venue's glistening indoor lakes, all hosted by potty-mouthed performance-art duo Olga and Bjorn. 16 Main St at Water St, Dumbo, Brooklyn (718-222-8500, galapagosartspace.com). Sat 10 at 10pm; $20.

Saved by the 90s: A Party with the Bayside Tigers! at the Canal Room
The Canal Room is the new Max tonight: Don your snap bracelets and acid-washed jeans and practice your electric slide in preparation for this night of '90s nostalgia in honor of Zack, Kelly and the rest of the gang. The Bayside Tigers will play covers of the Backstreet Boys and Smash Mouth among other songs you haven't danced to since your seventh-grade Valentine's Day dance—shake ass with the confidence of knowing that we are totally gonna beat Valley at the track meet this year. 285 West Broadway at Canal St (212-941-8100, canalroom.com). Fri 9 at 9:30pm; advance $10, at the door $12.

Carnivorous Nights Taxidermy Contest at The Bell House
Why see mounted skeletons, tigers and rabbits behind glass at the Museum of Natural History when you can ogle them without a barrier—with a wildlife-themed cocktail (Wet Specimen, $TBA) in your hand!—at the Secret Science Club's annual taxidermy revue. Robert Marbury of the Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermists sits on the panel of esteemed judges; bring your best work to take home the glory or just gawk at everyone else's stuffed entries. If you're a taxidermy newb (let's face it, most of us are), come early for an illustrated lecture about the practice. 149 7th St between Second and Third Aves, Gowanus, Brooklyn (718-643-6510, secretscienceclub.blogspot.com). Fri 9 at 7:30pm; $7.

TinyRhino at the Brooklyn Lyceum
Get drunk on local theater and an endless sip of your booze of choice at UglyRhino's dramatic drinking party: The fast-paced evening features six ten-minute plays by a collection of up-and-coming playwrights. Before the mini productions begin, you'll receive a list of five dramatic elements that will pop up in any of the plays, at any time, in any order. Celebrate spotting one with a sip, chug or shot of your drink. We suggest arriving early with your bar order order in mind—the event tends to sell out. 227 Fourth Ave at President St, Park Slope, Brooklyn (718-857-4816, brooklynlyceum.com). Mon 12 at 8pm; $10.

Local x Local at Brooklyn Bowl
This collaborative event between Brooklyn Brewery and Learned Evolution mashes up the best of the borough's music, food and culture eight times a year. This month's performances feature Delicate Steve's guitar pop and local piano-based quintet the Milagres, plus a photo booth and vendors including Classic Specs and Brooklyn Charm. 61 Wythe Ave between North 11th and 12th Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-963-3369, brooklynbowl.com). Dec 18 at 6pm; $5, with R.S.V.P. via website free.
