Italy's Joe T. Vannelli is a legendary figure in the annals of house history; when he first appeared on the scene in the ’90s, his productions—tracks like "Play with the Voice" (with his go-to vocalist, Csilla), "Sexogroove" and "Sweetest Day of May"—combined tough, tribal rhythms with otherworldly ambience to create a sound that was uniquely his. Vannelli's been active ever since, but he recently reentered clubland's consciousness in a big way via a song that dance-music tastemaker Pete Tong named his "Essential New Tune": "The End," coproduced with Hot Since 82 and featuring none other than Csilla on vocals. (Apparently, he's got a full album with Csilla on the way, too.) Tonight, the veteran hits the decks at the latest edition of the Made in Italy affair.
