The Brooklyn Comedy Festival takes place from Monday, August 24, 2015 to Sunday, August 30, 2015 and showcases some of the funniest New Yorkers. At the festival you'll have a chance to see both established comedians and new faces. Some of the showcases even happen to be free comedy shows! So check out our handpicked selection of the best shows and who knows? You could even end up seeing one of the best comedy shows of the year!

Brooklyn Comedy Festival shows

This show, created by Hannibal Buress, has become a Brooklyn staple. He no longer hosts the show, but it’s still known for famous drop-ins like Dave Chappelle and Method Man. For the Brooklyn Comedy Fest, expect to see Jon Laster (Parks and Recreation), John Early (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), Michelle Buteau and Yamaneika Saunders.

Recent Just for Laughs New Face, Julio Torres and cohost Joe Rumrill have done an excellent job showcasing some of the weirder (but still hilarious) acts Brooklyn has to offer. This is the show to see to say you saw them before they were on TV.

The festival organizers decided this LES staple was physically close enough to include in the lineup, however they moved the show to Brooklyn Brewery just for the fest. Luckily, they remembered to bring incredible acts, including Joe Pera and Josh Gondelman with them across the river.

This show has survived many years, many hosts and venues. However, it still consistently books incredible lineups and continues it’s original intimate charm. This one is another LES favorite that hopped the river for the fest, but it’s not to be missed. Acts include Louis Katz, Chris Gethard, Nick Turner and Big Jay Oakerson.

Boris Khaykin hosts the civil war of comedy. Here he books a lineup that intertwines improv and stand-up. Which format is better? You decide! I’d bet he loves them both (why else would he have them on a show). Go expecting to see the best from all corners of the local comedy scene.

Late Night Basement with Chris Rose
  • Comedy

This late-night styled live show led by Chris Rose features musical acts, interviews, games and stand-up. He plans on bringing up Seaton Smith (Mullaney) and Dan Soder. We love their acts, but we’re really excited to see how they play in this format.

Kyle Ayers, with the help of local comedians, acts out amateur porn scrips that he solicited on Craigslist from aspiring writers. The show has been a huge success and he’s toured the show all across the country, but tonight may be the biggest night of them all. Ron Jeremy (yes, the Ron Jeremy) has agreed to join the lineup to lend some of his expertise to these tales.
