Chalk and Soot

As part of the 2014 White Light Festival, John Heginbotham choreographs Chalk and Soot. Set to a score by Brooklyn composer Colin Jacobsen, the vocals come from Kandinsky's 1912 Sounds, a book of poems and woodcuts for which the artist instructed his audience to repeat the words until they lost their sense, fusing with the imagery.
