Put on your happy feet: The eighth annual Dance Parade kicks off May 17 at 1pm at Broadway and 21st Street, where dancers of all ages and cultures—trained and otherwise—tap, pirouette and glide their way to Tompkins Square Park. The parade, a cultural bonanza, showcases more than 70 styles of dance, from ballet to hip-hop, with 10,000 performers of all abilities and ages.

This year’s grand marshals are Savion Glover, Hex Hector and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar; the destination is DanceFest at Tompkins Square Park, where you’ll encounter dance and aerial performances, lessons and social dancing. Stay hydrated. Here’s a slide show of years past to get you in groove.
