The New York Chinese Cultural Center presents a festival of shows and activities to help you ring in the Year of the Snake. On Saturday 9, visit the Queens Theatre to see New York–based Peking-opera star Qi Shu Fang perform a traditional theater piece inspired by Chinese folklore. Avant-garde NYC band the Hsu-nami will open for Qi, but you can watch a full set of the group rocking out on the Chinese erhu fiddle on Sunday 10 at Brooklyn Millennium High School. Each performances is preceded by an hour of family-friendly New Year’s decoration workshops. Visit chinesedance.org for more information.
