Q:
I need to find a great bar that’s wheelchair accessible. Nothing unhip, please—we’re in our twenties.—Bill Rowan, Noho
New York ain’t the world’s easiest city to navigate—for anyone—but the sheer volume of drinking holes makes it easy to find a few spots with wide, stair-free entrances and other amenities that should please wheelchair partyers. You can fill up on $5 pints while exploring 6,500 square feet of flat space at B-Bar and Grill (40 E 4th St at Bowery St, 212-475-2220)—a downtown spot that also has ramps to the garden and patio areas. In the Garment District, the spacious sports bar Stitch (247 W 37th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves, 212-852-4826) features a fully accessible main floor—including a restroom with handrails—as well as five TV screens and a daily happy hour from 11am to 8pm.
