It's rare for a Brooklyn restaurant to attempt a reverse expansion into Manhattan, but when Motorino chef Mathieu Palombino took over the former Una Pizza Napolitana space, you embraced him. It's easy to see why, as Palombino's skills extend far beyond pizza. In addition to his expertly baked Neapolitan-style pies, sweet with pools of molten mozzarella, you can find a selection of to-die-for appetizers, like roasted strips of porky mortadella with cherry tomatoes, olives and basil. Motorino 349 E 12th St between First and Second Aves (212-777-2644)
