Most welcome gentrifier: James

Like icy AC on a sweltering day, James's arrival in brownstone Prospect Heights refreshed and revived the neighborhood. New locals, longing for a casual, Manhattan-class eatery, flocked to the stylish corner restaurant for the same reasons we do: winning cocktails like the rye-powered James' Revenge, and elevated nibbles such as crispy, juicy sweetbreads and seared scallops with boar lardons. If our delight in such a bourgie upgrade is clichd, so be it. James 605 Carlton Ave at St. Marks Ave, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn (718-942-4255)
