The New Amsterdam Market returns

Shop for sustainable eats-plus some of the city's best breads-at South Street Seaport.

Grab your reusable totes and get ready for the New Amsterdam Market (South St between Beekman St and Peck Slip,; 11am--4pm), which returns to South Street Seaport for the summer season on Sunday 27. The smartly curated local-food bazaar combines East Coast produce with speciality items from butchers, cheese makers and other artisanal purveyors. For this edition, organizers will revive the “bread pavilion” of 2008, featuring signature loaves from nine of the city’s best bakers. As always, fuel your browsing with plenty of free samples, plus snacks from vendors like Porchetta. If you miss out, don’t despair—the monthly market will return on July 24 and August 22, and on a weekly basis beginning September 12.—Chris Schonberger
