Tea Tasting 101

Harney & Sons
Harney & Sons , Soho Tuesday June 19 2012 19:30 - 21:30
At this intimate monthly class, third-generation tea sommelier Emeric Harney will teach you how to treat a good ol’ cuppa with the reverence it’s due. The event is modeled on a wine tasting: You’ll sip a flight of hot brews including lung ching (Chinese green) and fancy Taiwanese Formosa oolong, with snacks like Lapsang souchong gravlax with house-made green-tea cream cheese. Harney will cover the origins and flavors of the blends, discuss tea-growing regions, and offer tips for gauging caffeine content and choosing food pairings. At the end, guests can take home their favorite blends and brewing accessories at a discount.
