A sleeper . Don't miss this gem. The acting, music, and entire production were excellent. Might I also add: a thinking person's show. Unfortunate that the show was launched during the high holiday period when scores of folks might have seen it. Oh vey give a few weeks in October.
Great staging, acting and music - would like to have seen more of the Golem. Can't wait till the Golem takes Manhattan!
Very entertaining piece of work that represents many facets of a time in history and how different cultures and beliefs converge in a very real and familiar story. The music and lyrics are on point and capture the essence of the screenplay, which has a profound cultural depth. Got many laughs and tears from the audience. The acting is genuine and delightful. The Ellen Stewart theatre is very intimate and felt quite cozy. Want to see it again!
Great show. The story as whole was intensely thought-provoking without clubbing you over the head with any type of moralism. It retained a playfulness and tone which at once kept me thinking, anticipating, and plain enjoying. Very well written and thought out. The cast did a great job embodying their characters' dilemmas and passions. And the klezmo-cuban rhythms were catchy and fun. Great night out, loved it!
