Lincoln Center Festival. Dap-Kings bandleader and local soul hero Binky Griptite is the music director for this most impressive celebration of R&B icon Curtis Mayfield, who moved on to the next level back in 1999 but whose indelible influence lingers. A starry roster of performers includes Mavis Staples, Sinead O'Connor, Aloe Blacc, Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, the Roots and more. Plus, the shindig inaugurates the the Curtis Mayfield Foundation, meant to support the musical dreams of disadvantaged youth. One word: Go.
