Description
The late tenor saxist Joe Henderson was a rival of Wayne Shorter’s when both came of age in the Blue Note ’60s, but it wasn’t until decades later—when he recorded a series of splendid discs for Verve—that Henderson’s sophisticated sax logic made him a bona fide star. A suitably superb ensemble (Jackson’s in the tenor chair) revisits his career.
