    Description
    Trumpeter John McNeil is an eclectic improviser who scored a bull’s-eye in 2006 with his Gerry Mulligan–inspired disc, East Coast Cool. He’s done it again on the new Rediscovery (Sunnyside), this time with tenorist Bill McHenry on hand. The ensemble adds some McHenry-engineered angles to the kind of breezy jazz that used to be synonymous with the West Coast.
