Description
Whether or not you like salsa—lots of it, at maximum volume—will determine whether Carmen Rivera and Candido Tirado’s show is for you. This combination of concert and weepy remembrance of Cuban-born salsa queen Celia Cruz (alternately played by Xiomara Laugart and the appealing Selenis Leyva) isn’t much of a musical, but it is an effective delivery system for about 30 energetic, high-decibel numbers that feature lively ensemble dancing and a hard-working band. (Performances on Tuesdays at 8pm, Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 7pm are in English; all others are in Spanish.)—DC
