Tonight, GZA eschews his excellent new release, Pro Tools, in favor of a performance of his classic Liquid Swords. At the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago last summer, he joined the fray of artists who are re-creating their seminal albums live and complete. He did an excellent job…so good, in fact, that New Yorkers were chomping at the bit to see their hometown hero rhyme 1995’s Liquid Swords in its entirety. He’s done it once already (in December), but this is another chance to check out arguably the best opening one-two-three combo in hip-hop history. So, yes, get there early.
