Dan Zanes spent the first (and arguably less interesting) half of his career playing frontman in the roots-rock band the Del Fuegos. Since trading in the rocker’s life for family-friendly folk at the turn of the millennium, the wild-haired Brooklynite has become a titan of hip kid culture: In addition to a steady stream of well-received albums, released through his own Festival Five Records, Zanes also has picture books, a DVD and several music videos to his credit.
