Description
On The Broken String, Bishop Allen’s second full-length and first for the Dead Oceans label, the band revisits songs from the series of quickie EPs it released monthly in 2006, polishing things while adding delicate orchestral frills. It’s a gentle record for gentle people, proffering snapshots of young middle-class city dwellers. Michigan indie-pop outfit the Silent Years puts forth a comparable sound—richly melodic, a bit too precious but definitely honed, and well suited for liberal-arts majors and their dates. The group’s The Globe comes out this summer.

  Bishop Allen, gotta love em. The War On Drugs might just steal the show, I found em on a blog and was absolutely blown away by their song "Taking The Farm". They won't be this cheap next time they come through town.
