At first, Abbas Kiarostami’s Tuscany-set romance seems a simple tale of unrequited love between an English writer (James Miller) and an expatriate French art collector (Juliette Binoche). Then a waitress mistakes the duo for a married couple and the tenor of their relationship mysteriously changes, resulting in some mind-blowing narrative and emotional shifts.
