Many critics went nuts over Dash’s strangely poetic evocation of life among the Gullah in 1902, but if you can’t settle into its leisurely rhythm or decipher the dialect, it’s a looong two hours. Also on the bill is Dash's short "The Diary of an African Nun" (1977).
