Days of Being Wild

In retrospect a poorer cousin to In the Mood for Love, this early work shares many of the same surfaces—early-’60s Hong Kong, drop-dead gorgeous Maggie Cheung, Christopher Doyle’s lush photography—but little of the emotional impact. As the title implies, it rambles; Wong became a much better filmmaker after he outgrew his own wild days.
