Eyes Without a Face

This is the one Franju film that everybody knows, and its reputation as a top-notch exercise in Freudian ickiness is well deserved. Stay away from this artful horror flick if you’re squeamish about graphic surgical procedures—the main set piece, in which a woman’s face is completely removed, lasts for several highly unnerving minutes.
