Audiences were a little taken aback by photographer-provocateur Larry Clark’s rather frank portrait of New York skate rats behaving badly (teenagers drink and have sex?!? Who’d have thunk it?), though anyone familiar with the stark stills of his early exhibits knew Clark had a knack for nailing youth culture’s nihilistic side.
