Time Out says
Thu Mar 15 2012
More than 120 local bars, restaurants, shops and outdoor markets get together to celebrate the resurgence of hard cider in this ten-day extravaganza. Festivities include classes, tastings and events from Back Forty, City Grit, Saxon + Parole and more. Sit down to a five-course cider-pairing dinner at Northern Spy Food Co., which features dishes like cauliflower with scallop, ginger and brussels sprouts; and a cinnamon doughnut with apple, caramel and walnut crunch ($50). At Applepalooza in the Astor Center (Thu 18; $25), boozehounds can sample hard ciders, calvados and seasonal cocktails, plus desserts featuring the autumnal fruit, such as dip-your-own caramel apples. Or drop by a cider-and-cheese pairing, led by Ezra Sherman of Eve's Cidery, at BKLYN Larder (Fri 19; free). Visit ciderweekny.com for a full list of events and participating venues.
