A midsize club with a beautiful layout and a Gary Stewart Audio sound system, one that's making at least a small effort to cater to the underground house and techno scene? In Manhattan? If it sounds too good to be true, you're right—District 36 began to cater to clubland's baser instincts after its 2010 opening. Still, the club does score the occasional killer DJ—and that sound system is truly magnificent.
