L train pizza crawl

Order a slice, or a pie to share, at these cult-favorite pizza joints less than a block from an L stop.

1

Artichoke Basille's True, the hangover-helper vibe of this perpetually packed takeout spot might not scream romance, but it's a fast and fun way to start the night. Kick things off by sharing a 16-ounce waxed-paper cup brimming with Bud ($5.50) and a slice of the namesake puffy-crusted creation, overloaded with artichoke-spinach dip ($4.50), before hopping the train at First Ave to track down more pedigreed pies. 328 E 14th St between First and Second Aves (212-228-2004)

Roberta's End your date three stops farther afield, to Morgan Ave and Roberta's, Bushwick's unofficial gastro-geek clubhouse. Two woodstoves warm the space, and you can even cuddle up in the winterized outdoor area. The pizzas are equally comforting: Share the Cheeses Christ ($11), a three-cheese wonder, and the $14 stracciatella appetizer: caviar, gooseberries and roasted pistachios over creamy strands of mozzarella. 261 Moore St between Bogart and White Sts, Bushwick, Brooklyn (718-417-1118)
