For some, summer officially begins with Memorial Day; but for hungry, sand-seeking New Yorkers, it starts when Rockaway Taco reopens. Starting today, you can dig into the street-side plywood shack’s illustrious fish tacos ($3.50 each, add guacamole for $1). Regulars—and those who like it spicy—know to order the off-the-menu black sauce, a superhot Oaxacan salsa made with confit garlic and roasted chipotle peppers. Operated up by a merry crew of beach bums who will return to full-time surfing when the eatery closes for the season on October 5, the reggae-blasting eatery might just fool you into thinking
it’s already swimsuit weather. Don’t worry—it’s coming. (We think.)

I had the Mello Man sandwich at Fisherman's Dog the other day and holy crap the new menu there is better than Rockaway Taco.
