Madison Square Park heats up with this annual carnivore convention. Top pit masters from across the country–Baker’s Ribs in Dallas, BlackJack Barbecue in Charleston, SC–and local joints like Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and Hill Country will dish out wood-fired creations. Seminars, cooking demos and live music round out the festivities.
Neighboring 'hoods Chinatown and LES team up for this 14th-annual cultural smorgasbord. The eclectic block party brings dumpling demos, challah braiding and mah-jongg competitions along Eldridge Street. Eat up kosher egg rolls and egg creams in between Yiddish lessons and Chinese acrobatic performances, or learn about Hebrew and Chinese writing.
Frankfurter fanatics will again chow down against the clock at this annual Coney Island eating competition. Top speed eaters from this year’s preliminaries, held in 12 cities nationwide, will battle to see who can eat the most buns and dogs in ten minutes at the ESPN-televised finals. Preshow entertainment includes performances by rapper Eric "Badlands" Booker and other local talent.
Hungry New Yorkers and tourists alike flock to participating restaurants for this food fest, offering more than 20 days of bang-for-your-buck meals. Nearly 300 eateries will be serving three-course lunches for $25 and dinners for $38. Past restaurants have included Benchmark, Boulud Sud, the Cecil and Nobu.
The annual vino blowout is back with a fantastic lineup of 29 Empire State wineries. Locals like Brooklyn Winery, Martha Clara Vineyards, and One Woman Wines and Vineyards will pour their best products, while eats will come courtesy of Gotham vendors including Gramercy Tavern, Murray’s Cheese Bar and Emily.
