Usually relegated to after-school snacks or sweet bribery for ol’ Saint Nick, the cookie plate is getting a cachet boost around town. Top chefs like Food Network regular Amanda Freitag and empire builder Jean-Georges Vongerichten are offering spreads of cookies on the dessert menus of contemporary diner Empire Diner and Latin hot spot ABC Cocina, while the Gramercy Tavern crew pulled out all the stops at the New American favorite.
