Time Out says

Whether you’re apathetic about the environment or are a go-green crusader, treating your tresses to quality, natural products just feels good. Fueled by their shared desire to use low-toxicity hair care, stylists Jen Parker, Brian Wallis and Rod Rayson have migrated from the now-closed John Masters Salon and pooled their money to open a new spot two blocks west. There’s a strict policy against using harsh chemicals or hairsprays, and the salon carries ammonia-free, herbal-based products. Parker specializes in color, while Wallis loves chopping short hair, but they all partake in Soho Organic’s short menu of beautifying services, which includes haircuts (men $105, women $125), color ($100–$125), highlights ($150–$250) and blowouts  ($65). Venture to the quiet salon, where you’ll get lathered with lavender-rosemary shampoo and rinsed with apple-cider vinegar mixed with water to clarify product-inflicted hair. The laid-back group takes care of everything, including cutting hair at the three swivel chairs, answering phones at the tiny reception desk, pouring organic coffee for customers and hauling towels to the nearby Laundromat. It’s close quarters at the low-ceilinged, modern space, so while your color is setting, the three might hang out against the exposed-brick wall in the waiting area to talk about Lady Gaga or discuss their favorite blogs.
