Getting started on saving for college

You’re not a bad parent if you haven’t begun saving for college, but even a little cash can get you going.

    SAVINGFORCOLLEGE.COM
Simple and easy to navigate, this website explains in detail the 529, along with other savings and payment strategies. Links are provided to each state’s plan. For one-on-one guidance, you can find a local 529 professional in the site’s directory.

NEW YORK’S 529 COLLEGE SAVINGS PROGRAM
You can open a 529 account in minutes online or over the phone, with as little as $25. Monthly or quarterly contributions flow electronically from your bank account or, if your employer can do it, right out of your paycheck (most companies can arrange for this deduction).
