
Weekend bunch Every Sunday, Brooklyn Play Spot owner Kate Myers, whose son Joe, 4, suffers from pervasive developmental disorder, devotes two hours to families with special-needs children. Young ones with autism, Down syndrome and other disabilities have free reign at the 850-square-foot center (pictured above): They play at the sensory table, participate in art projects or read books with trained professionals. “Kids feel a true sense of independence,” says Myers.
