    Time Out New York Kids / Issue 24 : Oct 1–31, 2007
    Neighborhood report

    My Corona: Day planner

    11:30am–1:30pm
Hop off the 7 at 111th Street and head three blocks south to the New York Hall of Science. At its newly expanded, outdoor Science Playground, kids take an irresistible romp into the world of physics. They’ll have so much fun, they’ll forget they’re learning—and you’ll be amazed at how fast two hours zoom by.

    1:30–2:30pm
Relax in the last vestiges of shade from the park’s sycamores; brown bag a sandwich or snack on a treat from one of the Peruvian carts that dot the paths. If little feet get antsy, walk along the fields and take in a soccer game.

    2:30–3pm
Head to the Unisphere for the day’s premium photo op (don’t forget to pack the camera!). The giant, 12-story-high steel globe remains the park’s sculptural landmark. Your kids may recognize it from films like Men in Black.

    3–4:30pm
Double back toward the Queens Zoo(53-51 111th St at 53rd Ave, 718-271-1500) and try to spot bald eagle Mel and his mate, Claire II, both rescued birds that call this wildlife refuge home. Afterward, get acquainted with chicks and pigs at the petting zoo, where children can feed the animals.

    4:30–5pm
Make a pit stop at delicious La Antioquena Bakery #2(40-07 National St at 103rd St, 718-205-1314) on your way to the subway station. The whole family will fall for the shop’s delectable pastel de tres leches (three-milk cake).
