    3r Living

    At this Brooklyn boutique, items are selected with the principles of reducing, reusing and recycling in mind (hence “3r”). 3r Living carries products that have been fairly traded and use organic ingredients. An in-store recycling center accepts batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges, CDs and their cases, hand-held electronics and crayons.

    American Apparel

    American Apparel trots out its “Sustainable Edition” line of clothing for kids and adults, using 100% USDA certified organic cotton. All clothes are made in sweatshop-free factories.

    Build It Green! NYC

    Co-sponsored by Habitat-NYC and the Community Environmental Center (CEC), this Queens retail outlet sells salvaged and surplus building materials at half or below their original price.

    Economic Development Imports

    EDImports offers an assortment of socially and environmentally responsible housewares and gifts, handmade by artisans living in developing countries. Its toys and stuffed animals are made from recycled products.

    El Goo, LLC

    The boutique’s European children’s clothing and dolls are made of pure fabrics like organic cotton, virgin wool and untreated silk. El Goo also features items for preemies and babies with skin conditions.

    This eco-friendly SoHo boutique has is a parent superstore, offering an array of organic baby clothing, bath products and blankets.

    Greenjeans

    Two former art gallery employees opened Greenjeans with the intention to spread their ideals about “sustainability, craftsmanship, and conscientious living.” The store’s crafts, from pottery and furniture to toys and jewelry, are created by independent artists sought out by the owners themselves.

    Hemp Fair

    Hemp is a new, environmentally friendly way to dress the family. This Hoboken-based family store carries durable clothing, bedding, and stuffed animals made from hemp fibers and extracts.

    Organic Avenue

    This Lower East Side eco-boutique makes green living possible with a variety of clothing made from hemp and natural fibers. In addition to a wide selection of clothing, it also offers housewares, books and prepared and packaged raw foods.
