    Alley Pond Environmental Center

    The Alley Pond Environmental Center is renowned for its family programs, including nature hikes, birding, geology and astronomy lessons, cross-country skiing, tours of the city water tunnel and arts workshops.

    Bike New York

    Bike New York offers Spring and Summer cycling programs for families. Whether your kid’s still on training wheels or Tour-de-France-bound, the Family Bike Fests are a great, pollution-free way to get out in the city. All the programs are free but require pre-registration.

    Brooklyn Children’s Museum

    Proud to be the first green children’s museum in the country, the BCM hosts a variety of public and private events and classes.

    Earth Celebrations

    Earth Celebrations has been dedicated to the preservation of more than 50 of Manhattan’s community gardens. This eco- and community-friendly organization offers a variety of activities, including educational art and ecology workshops.

    Josie's Restaurant (also Dining)

    Josie's frequently hosts healthy cooking classes for children. Contact the restaurant for days, times, and costs.

    KidFresh (also Grocery)
    1628 Second Ave between 84th and 85th Sts (212-861-1141, 800-DO-KIDFRESH,kidfresh.com).
    Kidfresh offers cooking classes for children ages three through ten. Contact the restaurant for days, times, and costs.

    Kids Cook!
    170 Hicks St between Clark and Pierrepont Sts, Brooklyn Heights (718-797-0029,kidscookbrooklyn.com).
    Kids ages 4 to 13 learn to cook with fresh, natural ingredients and seasonal produce. After class, everyone heads home with their dish and a recipe in hand. Customized parties are also available.

    Lower East Side Ecology Center
    Locations vary by program (212-477-4022, lesecologycenter.org)
    The LESEC hosts environmental education programs year-round for kids at various Manhattan locations and in classrooms. Their garden headquarters also serves as a drop-off location for compostables and recyclables.

    Mamalu (also Dining)
    232 N 12th St between Driggs and Union Aves, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718-486-6312, mamalu.us).
    Mamalu’s café hosts an assortment of classes and workshops for kids as well as birthday party packages.

    Sonic Yoga Kidz
    754 Ninth Ave at 51st St, 2nd Fl (212-397-6344, sonicyoga.com).
    Yoga classes at the Midtown center are specifically geared towards kids and helping them become more confident and creative. Organic pizza parties are available for little yogis and yoginis.
