Best place to meet other parents: Big City Moms
If your first thought was “online chatroom,” you really need to hightail it to a Big City Moms event. Run by sisters Risa Goldberg and Leslie Venokur, the three-year-old outfit brings expectant and new moms together for activities (some of which are free, others have a fee) including lunches, discussions and book readings. A recent event focused on a topic that keeps all new mothers up at night—sleep deprivation—with a talk by Dr. Harvey Karp. The company also puts on occasional affairs for the whole family, because no one’s ever too young (or too old) to socialize and trade notes with peers.
