Best kid fest: Children’s Day
Roscoe Orman, whom you might know best as the one-and-only Gordon from Sesame Street, hosts 11 fun-packed hours of family entertainment at this annual fest held at South Street Seaport. This year’s outing included AudraRox, Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck, and even John Lithgow (who’s so much more than the mean dad in Footloose). But kids are equally if not more excited by all the costumed characters on hand, like Dora the Explorer, Curious George and Madeline. Capping off the event is an impressive fireworks display.
