    Single Parent Guide

    Flying solo? You're not alone!

Mike and Carol made it look so easy: Venerable sitcom The Brady Bunch began with the merging of two single-parent-headed families at a comically chaotic wedding. But what we want to know is, what happened before the lady met the fellow? How did Mike swing a full-time job and parent a trio of boys? How did Carol support her blond brood? And when did the pair find time to go on a date, let alone build a relationship? It’s as true in 2008 as it was in the ’60s: Single parents don’t have it easy. We asked solo moms and dads, as well as a panel of experts, how to get it all done and still keep a grip on life. Here’s what they had to say.

You article touched in so many aspects of my life; I am a single, full-time mother, employer and student and although, I agree NYC is one of the greatest city to have a child; It can also be very isolating and costly. I struggle with all of the topics illutrated in the article. I thanked god for my family, friends and the wonderful school my daughter goes to. As a single, divorse parent I am now learning to take care of myself and enjoying the beauty of having a healthy and beautiful girl.

Thank you for shedding light on such a large demograpic that feels like such an island when you are going through it. It is nice to know that you are not alone and share advise on making it a little easier to be a single parent in 2008.
