    Expectant mom’s guide

    Work it, mama!

Let’s face it: When you’re rounding the corner of that third trimester, just hauling yourself out of bed in the morning can feel like a workout. But staying fit during pregnancy can make for an easier labor and help you drop the baby weight later on. Some of the city’s top pre- and postnatal workouts are listed below (just get the green light from your doctor before beginning any exercise program).

Aqua MomSince water’s buoyancy makes you feel a whole lot lighter, an indoor pool is the perfect workout spot for moms-to-be who feel too unwieldy to get down on a yoga mat. Women in all trimesters come for a total body workout that founder Andrea Pritchett says can ease back pain, lower blood pressure and help you sleep better. Wall Street and midtown locations; call for more info (212-744-6622, aquamom.com)

Baby Boot Camp at the West Side YMCAYou won’t find screaming drill sergeants here, just moms getting a cardio and strength-training workout while pushing their strollers through Central Park. Come on, make that $800 Bugaboo work for you! 5 W 63rd St at Central Park West (212-875-4100, ymcanyc.org)

Body by Baby at the 14th Street YThe Y gets you working out on both sides of childbirth, with prenatal and postnatal classes. Prenatal yoga helps alleviate muscle tension; postnatal yoga takes place in a padded playroom so Junior can crawl around while you’re in downward dog. In the aerobic Body by Baby class, tots get put to work, helping Mom train by adding extra weight during exercises such as “kissing crunches.” 344 E 14th St between First and Second Aves (212-780-0800, 14streety.org)
