When Nanny leaves her six-year-old charge—the “rawther” saucy resident of the Plaza Hotel—with a substitute babysitter in order to take a much-needed vacation, Eloise is miffed. Then she meets her new caretaker, Nicole, an arty NYU student who eschews bedtime, tutoring and anything that’s not fun. But when Nic starts spending a little too much time with Eloise’s hotel-employee pal Bill, the little diva turns into a mini version of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf: She sabotages the springtime romance by spreading a scandalous lie about Bill’s flirtatious ways. In the end, Eloise must rectify her transgression by heading to the Village and apologizing to Nic. The flick’s copious New York hipster references, distinctions between uptown and downtown, and girlie drama will charm you right alongside your kids. Bonus: Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser himself) voices Eloise’s tutor, Phillip.
