Shopping for children’s gear is hardly relaxing—as anyone who’s ducked into Buy Buy Baby on a Saturday afternoon can tell you—but Zen is all around at Soho’s brand-new Maclaren showroom. Housed in a former real-estate office, Manhattan’s first outpost from the popular stroller peddlers sports a rock garden and a spacious marble bathtub, where customers can sample products from the company’s new organic skin-care line for moms and babes. Of course, the strollers are the main attraction here. We spotted the best-selling, lightweight Volo ($130) and the durable Techno XT ($280)—a favorite among city-dwelling celeb moms—as well as special models designed by Lacoste, Kate Spade, Shanghai Tang and Lulu Guinness. A walk-in clinic where parents can have broken buggies repaired is also on the premises. If you’re wishy-washy about which stroller is right for you, don’t worry: You can pop your tot into every one and give ’em all a test- drive around the store.
