Patrons of Cobble Hill sushi joint Cube 63 no longer have to loiter by the entrance while waiting for a table or takeout—instead, they can shop. Proprietress and mom Suzanne Lai has curated a kids’ clothing store located in the eatery’s former private-party room—a space that was fittingly once home to the beloved indie toy store the Laughing Giraffe at the Monkey’s Wedding. Focusing on clothing for children ages six months to five years, the 350-square-foot mini-boutique is decorated with a striking black Murano glass chandelier, toddler-sized midcentury-modern chairs and clean-lined nursery furniture, which is used to display cool kid imports from Korea and Japan. Parents can outfit their pint-size hipsters in tiny cotton tees bearing retro-cartoon graphics or miniature ’70s-style patchwork dresses. And the best part: Nothing in the store tops $50, so you’re apt to spend more on maki than on baby gifts.
