Whether your kids are Hebrew-school superstars or as goy as it gets, Manhattan has a Passover celebration that’s just right for them. Younger audiences can hear the story of how the Jews escaped slavery in Egypt as they sing along with puppets or participate in chometz hunts (like an Easter egg hunt, but with bread). The older set can learn more about the ten plagues and the history of Passover in New York by touring a matzo store on the Lower East Side or by embossing a cover for their prayer book (or another volume of their choice). Metal Embossing—Haggadah Cover Workshop
Sun 6, 13 2–4pm. Yeshiva University Museum, the Center for Jewish History, 15 W 16th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves (212-721-5350, yumuseum.org). Subway: F to 14th St, L to Sixth Ave. $8, students and seniors $6. In honor of the exhibit “The Papercut Haggadah,” kids craft book covers for their own Passover prayer books—or any other tome they feel merits special attention. Be sure to bring along the volume you have in mind for measuring purposes. Ages 6 and up.
