    Fourth of July weekend activities in NYC

    Celebrate the Red, White and Blue with patriotic parties around the city.

    FREE Liberty State Park Fireworks
    Fri 4 at 2pm–9pm. Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ (201-915-3403). Travel: PATH to Exchange Pl, then transfer to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Liberty State Park. Spend the day enjoying free ice cream, a games tent and music from the Persuaders, Ted Mills, Joe Bataan, DJ Omar and others; then watch the sparks fly at 9pm. All ages.

    FREE 32nd Annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular
    Fri 4 at 9pm. Barges will be located on the East River between 10th and 23rd Sts and off the South Street Seaport (212-494-4495, rivertorivernyc.org). Subway: A, C to Broadway–Nassau St; J, M, Z, 2, 3, 4, 5 to Fulton St. With more than 120,000 pyrotechnic bursts of color and light, New York City boasts the largest fireworks display in America. Head to your favorite spot along the water to delight in the astounding show. All ages.

    FREE Jones Beach Fireworks Spectacular
    Fri 4 at 9:30pm. Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh, NY (631-321-3510). Travel: LIRR to Freeport, then take the JB62 bus to Jones Beach. More than 275,000 people are expected to take in this colossal kaleidoscopic display.. With the Atlantic Ocean as their backdrop, your kids are apt to find new meaning in “from sea to shining sea.” All ages.
