Barry Harris was the youngest of the genius pianists who brought a sparkling bop sense to New York from Detroit in the ’50s. He’s the most Monkish of the crew, and these days, his playing breathes modern-jazz essentials. Here, Harris, a Village Vanguard regular, works with bassist Ray Drummond and drummer Leroy Williams.
