We're honestly impressed that Black Kids kept going under the same name after Pitchfork's review of their 2008 album, Partie Traumatic, forwent text and simply ran a picture of sad-faced pugs. But that most-scathing-ever criticism followed a ton of well-deserved blog buzz for the Florida crew's debut EP, Wizard of Ahhhs, so the hipster backlash seemed as confounding as it was mean. Color us interested to see, at these two relatively intimate shows, what the band has been up to since then; a new release is apparently in the works. Support on Aug 23 comes from Junior Prom, and on Aug 24, Via Audio kicks things off.
