Clearwater Honors David Amram

Symphony Space, Upper West Side Friday November 9 2012 18:30
David Amram is a peripatetic musical mad scientist who's been mixing pop, jazz, world music and classical moves for decades now, in the process writing more than 100 orchestral and chamber works, as well as a few soundtracks you've likely heard (Splendor in the Grass and the original Manchurian Candidate). Tonight Pete Seeger's Clearwater initiative pays tribute to Amram, with help from Latin-jazz luminary Paquito D'Rivera, folk vet Peter Yarrow and many more. All proceeds go to Clearwater's environmental-education efforts.
