Bilingual Providence, RI, punk troupe Downtown Boys offers a strikingly fresh sound in a scene that often stagnates in its whiteness and old trends. Combining anti-colonial politics, urgent tempos and skronky sax, the crew makes charged music that's thought-provoking and mosh-invoking in equal measure. Selections from the band's latest, Cost of Living, will find their way into this set, as well as, most certainly, singer Victoria Ruiz's shouted critical analyses of the prison-industrial complex, fascism, capitalism and heteropatriarchy.
