Lincoln Center Out of Doors. Mali in Africa has long been a glimmering treasure chest of musical riches—names like Amadou & Mariam, Ali Farka Touré and Oumou Sangaré among its international stars. But since religious hard-liners have banned any kind of music that isn't Koranic verses, many musicians have fled south following a military coup earlier this year. Tonight's outdoor "Caravan for Peace" event offers the opportunity to watch Malian talent make their NYC debut, performing under the stars. Highly recommended.
